What is the Space?

The Space at the Station is home for St. Clair Yoga & Movement, but it is also a place where other experienced teachers provide intimate classes, privates, and events. It is located in the basement of the Historic Fire Hall for Engine Co. 18, now known as The Station, which was built in 1930 and proudly served East Nashville as a fire station for nearly 60 years.

After nearly being destroyed, in 2014 an interior designer with an intense passion for historic architecture relentlessly pursued a vision to restore and repurpose the fire hall. After acquiring the building in 2015, Karen Goodlow Designs and her dedicated team of professionals made that vision of its complete restoration a reality. We are excited to benefit from The Station’s restored glory and be a part of it’s future!

FAQs

  • No. The Space is not a traditional yoga studio and each instructor is running their own independent business. Please register and pay each business owner separately.

  • The Space is located off of Gallatin Road in East Nashville. Parking is in the back of the building and the Station is set off from the busy road quite a bit (separated by a large paved area that we will use for outdoor activities!).

We suggest turning into the parking lot at the light on McKennie Ave.

We share a large lot with Orange Theory and CareNow. Publix is across the street with several other businesses and restaurants nearby.

  • The Space is a small studio on the basement level of a historic fire station. It is small and cozy, with wood floors and some exposed brick. There are small windows at the top of one wall that help bring in natural light while giving practitioners privacy. The Space is intentionally small and intimate.

The Space does not have tall ceilings. If you have any concerns about small spaces, please contact your instructor. We would be happy to give you more details and let you see the space before committing to a service.

Please enter the Space from the exterior door which will be locked during sessions. We suggest bringing your personal belongings into the studio space.

  • We are located under a successful retail store off of a busy urban road. While we do utilize sound machines and music to mitigate noises, we cannot guarantee a perfect environment. That’s yoga - we learn how to bring our life into the practice so we can take the practice into our lives.

  • Unfortunately, there is not an ADA accessible entrance to our studio. If you are unable to access one flight of stairs, please let your instructor know and we may be able to accommodate services in another location.

If you are sensitive to small or dark spaces, please let us know. We are happy to provide a preview of the space to anyone with sensory considerations.

  • We share restrooms with Black Shag Vintage on the first floor of the building. These can be accessed via an internal staircase. Please do not congregate in this area as it is a shared space.

  • Please contact Gillian directly to inquire about rental options. Please be prepared to provide a detailed description of your needs, dates, and times you are requesting use of the Space.

  • We reserve the right to deny use of the Space to anyone who does not uphold our values of respect and kindness. We will not rent space to anyone that discriminates on the basis of ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, religious beliefs, tribe, caste, age, class, thinking and communication styles, and any other discrimination that we deem unacceptable.
