Padmasana, or Lotus, is a revered yoga asana (shape) resembling a lotus flower. It increases, and requires, flexibility in the hips, knees, and ankles, and helps us sit upright for extended periods during Pranayama and Meditation.
If this shape doesn’t come naturally to you, there are many preparatory shapes to practice first, which is where the journey becomes fun. Regardless of your final expression of the shape, you’ll gain valuable information about where to begin, how to progress, and what movements complement or counteract Lotus.
This is a great resource for continuing practitioners and teachers.
